Couples Counselling
What can couples counselling help with?
Relationships can be one of the most important parts of our lives, but they can also be where we experience the most challenge. Whether you’re feeling stuck in recurring patterns, struggling with communication, rebuilding trust, or facing the impact of difficult life experiences, couples counselling can provide a space to better understand one another and work through these challenges together.
I offer a relaxed, welcoming, and safe space where both of you can feel heard, respected, and able to speak openly. Together, we can explore the difficulties you may be facing, strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and help you come to mutual agreements about the best way forward — whether that means rebuilding your connection, navigating change, or making important decisions together.
What does a couples therapy session look like?
To begin with, I will meet with each of you individually for a one-to-one session. These sessions take place online and last for an hour. This gives each person some uninterrupted time and space to talk about what has brought them to therapy and what they’re hoping for moving forward.
After these initial meetings, we’ll come together for joint, in-person sessions at my base in Quorn. These sessions are a chance for each of you to share your goals and to start building a shared understanding of what you’d like to work on together. I’ll support you both with techniques that encourage open, calm, and effective communication, and I’ll offer observations to help you notice where communication might be getting stuck and how you can navigate those moments differently.
As therapy progresses, our joint sessions will become a space to practice new ways of relating and talking with one another, and to reflect on what’s working well and what still needs attention. My aim is to guide you both toward a clearer, kinder, and more connected way of communicating.
